Microneedling

Microneedling is a facial rejuvenation and acne scar treatment procedure. It involves the use of numerous small needles (micro-needles) that penetrate the skin's surface, inducing small wounds to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin fibers in the middle layer of the skin. This process acts as a stimulus for skin tightening and elasticity, resulting in a smoother, firmer, and more youthful appearance. Microneedling can boost collagen production by up to 200%, helping to improve skin texture, reduce acne scars, fade dark spots, and tighten enlarged pores.
Additionally, microneedling can be combined with other treatments such as vitamin infusion, skin nutrition, collagen, whitening agents, or various medications tailored to specific skin issues. The needles allow for the delivery of these substances into the skin, and their depth (up to 2 millimetres) makes it convenient to target narrow or delicate areas such as the nose, around the eyes, and above the lip.

Unlike the dermaroller technique used over a decade ago, which involved rolling a device with numerous small needles over the skin and adjusting the depth manually, microneedling is a more advanced procedure. Dermarollers typically had larger needle sizes and couldn't reach desired areas effectively. This method often caused more pain, bleeding, and frequently didn't yield the desired results, as it mainly stimulated the superficial layer of the skin. Moreover, there were concerns about the lack of standards and the availability of dermarollers online, which could potentially cause damage to the skin and pose a risk of infection.
